You’re buying a place with home security components
A new home may come with a security system. All the alarms and cameras work, are hung in the correct spaces, and are ready to go. In this case, just turn on the phone to call and set up a new service contract. A Vivint installer will still show up to make sure there are no usability issues, and they may offer ideas on an upgrade or two. It's a fast appointment, and you can get your alarm monitoring set up without having a bill for any new alarms and cameras -- unless you add on.
The old owners can move an existing Vivint contract to your family for a one-time transfer cost to make the process a snap. If the owners downsize to a condo or smaller home, transferring the Vivint service might be a condition of the sale.
You want to move and bring your existing components with you
You may want to bring along your favorite home security components with you to your new place when you move. It should be pretty easy to transfer, as most components are plug and play. You can uninstall each alarm or camera by yourself or contact a Vivint installer to take down your devices. Then our installers will put in the same components -- and any smart items you want to add -- in the new house. And your home security contract will remain the same.
